Job Description: Alaska Litho is recruiting for a Graphic Designer/Prepress Tech.

Responsibilities and Duties: Prepress

  • Create and design logos, newsletters, calendars, etc. using a thorough          understanding of design principle, color theory and professional design
  • Receive and manipulate files electronically from email and disk, FTP and other transfer
  • Preflight and troubleshoot customer digital layout files, load fonts, inspect graphics, fix bleeds, fix
  • Layout/impose files on printer Create new imposition templates when necessary.
  • Output files through PDF workflow for plate-setting; set line screens, resolution, and other press-specific settings.
  • Produce calibrated proofs and/or pdf soft proofs for
  • Scan/photograph customer artwork for print or disk, color correct to original
  • Prepare and process Excel data for variable data mail
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work
  • Archive completed jobs to disk and network drive on a regular basis and organize files for safe keeping and for easy
  • Perform routine computer maintenance, including software updates and utility

Responsibilities and Duties: General & Administrative

  • Coordinate with the Production Team and the Sales Team to produce and prioritize jobs, and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and
  • Participate as a key player in the company by supporting operations as
  • Communicate effectively with the Production Supervisor, the Sales Team and the Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee that project objectives and customer agreements are
  • Follow systems and procedures outlined in the employee
  • Provide training and advice to customers on the preparation of digital files and general graphic
  • Keep current on latest technologies and software
  • Operate large format Inkjet printing equipment and cutting device.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of print production experience and a working knowledge of printing industry terminology, practices, and
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a graphic
  • Excellent and up-to-date knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Word, Excel,
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh and Windows platforms and operating
  • Excellent language and communication
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, under pressure and under
